Which one is your primary or favorite lock pick set?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Which one is your primary or favorite lock pick set?

Postby Squelchtone » 16 Aug 2008 14:41

Many new users visit here and initially ask us what pick set they should buy. Some want to know what materials they should use to make their own picks out of.

I'd would like to see the numbers on which pick sets we all use, and although you may own more than one brand of set, or even different models from the same manufacturer, please vote on the lockpick set brand you use most often.

Mine is a Peterson, and although I have a set of Rai's Bogota's, I only take those out for difficult locks.

Thank you for your participation in this poll,

Squelchtone

I'd probably have said Peterson's if I had any. As of now, hacksaw blades are cheap and flexible.

The poll is limited in how many choices I could include, but some other pick set companies are

Dino
Dyno
LAB
Majestic
HPC

and right now I wish I had an edit button, I'm sure more people have an HPC set instead of a Lockmasters set made by Dyno.

Primarily, HPC. To be honest, there needs to be a 'combination of' option, cause my general set consists of 3 hooks, a diamond and general snake rake all from HPC, a locknewbie rake, medium hook and feeler hook, Raimundo bogota set and an assortment of HPC, Peterson and windscreen wiper tension tools.

Mixed set. Mostly HPC, lots of older (20 yr plus) Majestic, and the rest are bits and pieces from lots of manufacturers.

Limited options, yes. I voted Peterson since my short hook is what I use 90% of the time. Personally I would kill this thread and start over, with poll options running from the more common sets to 'other', and 'homebrew', then have a separate post and poll for favorite homebrew materials.

I voted Peterson because I love my deep access picks and all the dirty jokes that come with them :P

Oh yeah and I like my slender gems

I only have one complaint about peterson. I really want to see some metal handles instead of the plastic and hard rubber.
There's nothing what can't be done with a lil Trailer Park Ingenuity.

Thanks kaotik for the edit.

I voted HPC. I think my mind is gonna change after i buy a blue 'ken's pickset' and some cases from peterson.

Am I the only one who mostly uses lp101 picks? :D
ln21 and ray for the most parts, but also I do use SO picks. Almost ordered the pink Barbie's set yesterday, but I think I'll wait for autumn sales and then try that one out.

Well... after DEF CON, I'm left with my 3 LockNewbies, and one of the LSI Hope pick sets...no tension wrenches...

...god thieves...

Just bought a new set, 9 tension wrenches, and 20 other sets to sell at the LLPC meeting September 1st though :-D
