safety locks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Are there any lock picks for safety locks?
I mean the locks that use keys with hemispheres carved on its surface.

Take a good look at this illustration:

Of particular importance to these locks are picks 5, 6 and 7. This illustration is the Brockhage/Dino Navigator set.

There are other pick sets that are dedicated specifically to these locks. Rogan make a prodct they market known as the secretary, also there is a pick set known as the Matador. I can't remember who made these though. They are pictured below.

The next set is made by Souber tools, and they are quite good as well.

I hope these help.

Very helpful, thanks!
On the photo with the 3 lock picks it seems that window wipers can be used to make similar picks by bending them in certain points. Am i right?

You are quite correct.

What you will end up with is very much a rake for dimple style locks. Bear in mind however, that these "rake" type picks are not generally effective on pin-in-pin type locks.

Happy picking,

Asking me if a Kaba's pin falls out is sort of like asking if GM axles fall off.

It's a little hard to answer unless you specify something.

I do believe I saw the same complaint that you saw. I don't know if it's an isolated incident or not.

It depends entirely on the style of the lock.

Some of them have two rows of pins at the top. In this case, you put a tension tool at the bottom of the keyway.

In cases where there is a row at the top, and a row at the bottom, you try for the middle with the tension tool.

In cases where you are using picks similar to the matador style, you may actually be able to get the lock to give by using the pick as a tensioner as well as a pick. After it gives, use a standard tension tool to finsih turning the lock.

As with all locks, it just takes some thought and creativity.
