Two more homemade hooks and a bogota

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Two more homemade hooks and a bogota

Postby nataz » 22 Mar 2010 19:02

Spring break has come and gone, and I have made 3 more picks (two short hooks and a bogota). They've come a long way from my first attempts over x-mas break.

I shamelessly stole a whole bunch of ideas from lpnewbie21 including the dimpled tip and the curved tang.

Handles are made out of the tang sandwiched between two more pieces of wiper blade held together with the appropriate liquid nails and layered shrink tube.

happy picking!

thanks guys.

It was the hooks I just got from locknewbie21 that pushed me to make these. Thats the best part about getting new gear for me - getting to look at someone else's design. Thats why I really want a bogota from rai :). As you can prob tell from the pictures, the "bogota-esq" type rakes that I'm used to seeing are more in line with what I have from southord then what you would get from Serepicks. Mine are pointy and sharp, his are def more rounded. It's hard for me to get a good feel for a pick without holding it first.

I've really become a fan of the dimpled tip. It allows me to really work the individual pins, and gives a lot of tactile feeback. I'm just worried about the longevity.
