Black Fimo

Is it just me, or when mixing black Fimo with another color, does the black seem to completely take over? I was using 3 parts red, to 1 part black, and I've still got a mostly black handle.

I've made two black and red handles so far, one freehand, and one cast from a mold that I made using a carved positive, and they've both been much blacker than expected.

Black in most art materials is based on carbon black. it never fades to grey in the sun. its the color in car tires and india ink.
a little bit of this pigment goes a long way. doing deep shadow use hunters grey, anything that is too black, like carbon black will not recede into background, it will catch the eye and attract it. Unless your carravaggio, then your black pushs everything into the single beam of sunlight.
