Critique Request: Dual Rake with Custom Cocobolo Handle

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Critique Request: Dual Rake with Custom Cocobolo Handle

Postby MrChonks » 4 Jan 2011 9:21

Hey all,

It has been a while due to the holiday and a new job, but I wanted to post a picture of a pick I made yesterday. I wanted to get your critiques.

This is a dual rake with a custom cocobolo handle (my design). As you probably have noticed, this is a severe deviation from the other handles I have made. I wanted something that was aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but also served the ergonomic needs of the picker. I have been using it since I yesterday afternoon and, although I like the pick, feel that the ergo design needs to tweaks. I have been drawing up some new designs since last night and will likely make a new one this evening. At any rate, here is the pic of the pick:

real nice =)

How does the "trigger" area affect feedback from the pick?

Thanks for the comments.

The feedback is good. I am still comparing it to my rytans to see which provided better feedback. The overall feel of the handle is better than my rytans, though.

FYI, I guess at some point I created two accounts here. I meant to post this under my main account, ChonkyTonks.
