Dressed up my Sparrows with a little wood

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Dressed up my Sparrows with a little wood

The dark wood is burmese blackwood, and I think the lighter is bubinga. Sorry if things are a little blurry; I can take more pictures tomorrow if anyone's interested. Also, if you said the lighter one doesn't look like a Sparrow pick, you win a Kewpie doll. That's the pick from my credit card set that I mounted in a handle. It's thinner than the Sparrows, so I kept it around and cleaned up the handle.

The handles definitely make picking a lot more comfortable and enjoyable. Plus they slide so nicely into the pouch now!

Oops, the picture is too wide, and I can't find an edit button. So click this smaller image to see the full size guy:

What did you use to finish them? I use this stuff http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aero-Gloss-1-oz-Gloss-Clear-Model-Airplane-Dope-for-Balsa-Wood-Kits-/161223738044 but I am looking for a replacement.

Normally I use cyanoacrylate for things like this. It's rock hard, and takes an amazing shine.

I was going to, then got totally lazy and just buffed them on a felt wheel with rouge. The woods I used are rock hard and take a gorgeous shine. Plus they're lockpicks, so if they wear in a little, I'm not too concerned.

I might sacrifice a pick or two and jump into this project. Great job man. They look way better than my naked lock picks.
