Custom lockpick project g10 and feeler guage

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Custom lockpick project g10 and feeler guage

Postby youngpicker99 » 6 Aug 2014 22:39

I recently purchased some starrett feeler guage and black peel ply g10, if you have not heard of g10 I recommend doing some searching about it, this stuff is awesome. G10 is a great material material for picks, it's light wieght, very strong, and the peel ply variation is very grippy. The top layer actually peels off to reveal a diamond like pattern, the best thing I can compare it to is petersons plastic pick handles. I hope to keep you guys up to date as I make these picks, I plan on posting pics of each step I take in the process of making them in an attempt to create a tutorial. So far I have roughly cut some g10 blanks and have made a mosaic pin (sorry I made the pin material before I planned on creating a tutorial so I don't have any pics), making the mosaic pin was pretty easy though, I just got a few small copper/brass tubes and a solid piece piece for the middle and epoxied them all together. I'll try to get a pic of the pin stock up by the weekend.

Here's what I'm starting out with, a stack of feeler guage and sheet of g10:Image

Please let me know if you guys (and girls) can see the picture.

Yes it is a clear picture. Could you possibly take a pick of this diamond shape from the peel away?
