Comrade's custom tension wrench

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Comrade's custom tension wrench

Postby Comrade627 » 30 Jan 2015 0:18

Here's a wrench I designed about 2 years or so ago, but never got around to posting. Basically its a simple combination of your usual wrench features, plus some for personal taste. "A" has been twisted 90 degrees for more contact area against your finger, at a length of 35mm (all lengths are preference, but some for a reason as well) "B" is only 20mm, "C" is 3 mm, with 2 45ish degree bends to allow the tang to clear any protruding rivets or whatnot from the bottom of the lock/give you a means of using the wrench on locks that are installed flush like in a desk. "D" is 5mm, so that it may be used from the top of the keyway without the hassle of the wrench falling out of position when pressure is applied. For descriptions sake, the short "horizontal" segment between D and C should be as short as possible. Any thoughts? So far this wrench has worked flawlessly on any lock I've thrown at it (added exception of MIWA deadbolt) so it's my go to, without a doubt.

Long story short, I've got nearly 20 of these badboys laying around wasting space. If you'd like one to test out, I'll send it out with zero charge whatsoever. I make these out of windshield wiper springsteel so it's not like they cost me anything, and only about 2 minutes to shape. No loss really, but I'd love to see you guys try em out of a much wider veriety of locks than what I have access to.

That looks like a very good design, very nicely executed!

Thanks guys. I'm in Okinawa right now aaaand it's an awesome place. The only thing I don't care for here is the limited selection of american style locks and high end electronic import costs. Other than that, I'd retire here.

I like that design, I might shamelessly rip that off and give it a test drive. It looks like it would adapt well for a lefty :D
