I'm more worried about putting Michael's (Sparrows) and Ken's (Peterson) products online as templates. It's bound to happen in our hobby and do it yourselfers always want some fresh templates, but I want to make sure we also support the companies that make our hobby possible by buying their produts and not pirating them. The guys who make these tools are real people who also have to pay the rent and buy groceries, so let me mull it over as to what our policy is on this.
Older pick designs that have been around for 25-50 years have obviously been floating around long enough to have made their money so I don't see an issue with a half diamond or hook pick template floating around, but new(ish) products should have a chance to be sold before becoming a freebie. There is of course something to be said about Sparrows design looking an awful lot like Peterson's design, so I understand that argument as well.
Hope that makes sense and the template can stay up right now as I think it over.
