using pallet strapping for making picks and tools

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

using pallet strapping for making picks and tools

This might help out those that make your own picks and other lock tools. I've noticed that people use a wide variety of materials when making picks. Most will go out and buy or order online their material. A lot of us have started out using hacksaw blades, some still do. However I'm a cheap bastard so I don't like spending money if I can get it for free (get your minds out of the gutter).. Which leads to my point, why buy material when you can get it for free? If you happen to live near a lumber yard, you're going to like this. Go in and ask them about the strapping that is used to bind the loads together. I'm talking about the flat metal straps they use. I was able to get about 15 maybe 20 feet of it for free. It's just the right size for making picks, bypass tools, and you can make those garage latch hooks that Sparrows sells. Give this a try you might like it.Happy picking

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Forum admin here, may I ask that you use titles that give readers scrolling the forum a better idea of what the post is about? No vague or click bait sounding titles please.

I have edited the title to reflect what the post is actually about.

many thanks,

Sorry wasn't trying to be vague or anything else for that matter. Actually I couldn't recall the name of those straps. It won't happen again.

They do make good picks, Was first pick making material I think I used about 30 Years ago. I would Cut into about 7" lengths, then into about 3 strips with tin snips, then to the grinder, I made Auto Jigglers.
Now I Dumpster dive for Wiper Blades, Their are different widths. Have seen Some Yard Rakes with very nice Stainless blades that work well.
Always looking for better materials.
Looking for a good Plastic Rubbery material to be used for a Bass Guitar Pick now? Maybe corner of a floor mat, or Plastic putty spreader.
Seems with Locksmithing, You always keep your eyes open for Stronger than average material, as for a long reach tool , pick material, or bypassing tools?
Take Care
