I have made a number of tension tools from spare allen wrenches. I have a drawer where spare and duplicate allens have ended up. I cut off the end with a Dremel cut off wheel and then grind the profile on a bench grinder. I have made some for specific locks TOK and customize the thickness / depth needed for a snug fit without binding the first pin. They are a hard material so I keep the grinding short with water cooling in between. I like them in some situations like extra force needed for strong springs. Nice to have options in the tool kit. Not hard to make and so far cost is zero.
