hmm now what?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

hmm now what?

Hey, nice to see new faces to pickmakeing. :D

First I'd suggest to compare it to the pictures others have posted or to commercial picks. A key works well too. Just make sure the neck of the pick is at least as long as the key(from tip to sholder). If you made a hook it should reach into the valleys of the key. A pick which would reach for the teeth will be too large to fit into the keyway properly.

Then you should finish it nicely. There are several tutorials on finishing picks, a good was posted by kspec.

Enjoy your pick and keep practising.

Burrs, jagged edges and bumps are your enemies and must be taken away with a very fine file and high grit sanpaper. Polish it, 'cuz the smoother your picks are, the better they'll work in the keyway.

You want it to be slightly bendy and springy, the trick is to be gentle.

putting two picks together wouldn't help very much, i think your problem is perhaps the neck of the pick was too thin - the quality of the metal used in the jigsaw blades can change a lot so maybe it would be worth looking at different types.

shame there wasn't a picture, but i think i understand your problem.

hope that helps, and good luck
