DIY Lockipicks - what do you think?

Okay.... well these are some picks which i've made today, i came up with a kind of new style for the handles, and i like them!

I have to give credit to Raimundo, as the two locks at the top are based upon his designs.

From the bottom to the top: a hook pick, a half-diamond, a rake, a tool i just made up (usefull for wafer-tumblers) a disc tumbler pick, a disc tumbler pick.

and the tension wrenches are from a set of Southords

Comments would be great, and criticisms of course...

P.S: i couldn't get the hook-pick, and the wafer-tumbler picks to sit flat so they are hard to see)

They look pretty good to me. I would think the handles would be difficult to grip tho, but if they work for ya, that's what counts.

That's REALLY good, especially if those are the first set you've ever made, and I particularly like that Bogota rake 4th from the top--nice work.

i'm pleased people like them

The handles do look fidely, but after some adjustments to the way i hold the picks they are really good.

i made a half-diamond out of a hacksaw blade once, which was the best thing i'd ever used, but being as clumsy as ususual it is now lost. this the first set which i have made, and no-one has said they suck so it's more than i'd hoped for

What material did you use? It looks like clothhanger wire to me. Am I right, and if so aren't they ways too weak? They look pretty cool IMHO. Do they work well for you? Questions, questions everywhere ...

No problem- happened to me too...

i actualy use bicycle spokes , which i heated up with a blowtorch, and then quenched in oil - i have heard th@ street cleaner bristles are better, but bicycle pokes were readily availible ( i expect a lot of bicycle spokes to be poor for this job, because they are made of alluminium, but the ones i used were made of steel)

as far as i can tell they are robust, but i guess i'll have to see

sorry about the double post.... but i missed this question :oops:

the top one has a half-diamond pick on the top half, and a hook on the bottom half, this i had intended to perhaps pick pin-by-pin both sets of pins in a car door...

The one underneith it is a dual bogota rake, i drew some kind of inspiration from those double sided lock-picks u can buy (the ones which are black, come in a red case) I have actualy to test them yet... i really did only make them yesterday, but intheory i feel they probably could be used as jigglers.

@ wtf|pickproof? missed the second part of your question..... i designed them around the way i pick locks, and they really are nice to use, the spiral part of metal prevents my hands from losing grip on the pick, and also doubles as a finger rest when i want to take my time.

Nice work, I figured it was bike spokes, I have tried them too, and some can be hammered flat, but others are hardened in a way that makes them split along the grain when hammered. there are a lot of different spokes, different metals, tempers, diameters, etc.

there were some bike spokes i tried once, but they split like you said - i guess thats the reason :lol:

I wondered... what in your oppinion works better- bike spokes, or street cleaner bristles?

(bearing in mind that bike spokes vary i n terms of quality)

paper clips are what i learned to pick with i still have 20+ paperclips in my wallet you can pick file cabnets with two paper clips one for your pick one for your tourk wrench :shock:

that would make the teachers quit mad when the stuff they took from me and locked in there cabnent Disapeared mohahahaha :twisted:
