Does anyone know of an hand operated key cutter for Ace type keys? The Herty Gerty is no more...
Chinese machines, or otherwise? I wasn't going to invest in a HPC Scotmans or code machine yet.

Ah... a bit og googlinh woulda helped. Anyone have experience with the KLOM brand tubular cutter? This look inexpensive as a substitute. HPC also makes a "Shark" which I have not heard of before, for $250 or so. Pete

Couldn't get the Herty Gurty, did get this Klom, works good enough. Don't know if Mine or all, numbering seem off, Maybe write 1-7 on the Key, so you are cutting in the right spot. Depth was good. You can pick the lock with an Impression tool. If it turns smoothly, decode and make a key. I would also, pick lock, turn just slightly, then get a good read from the Impression Tool, Decode then copy. Hasn't worn out, haven't given a lot of use. Works

I have one of the KLOM cutters, for the $50 I spent on it I am happy with it. I have only cut about 20 keys in 3 years but once its setup it is good to go. took me 2 blanks to work out a method for cutting keys.

Seemed liked pin position numbers were off, did you have that issue? I may have gotten one with wrong numbering?

I have one of the Klom ones as well, I'm pretty happy with it. The depth calibration on mine was way off when I got it, but it's pretty easy to adjust. I would suggest only using brass blanks with it though if you want it to last for a while, I'm not sure I'd trust the cutter to go through a bunch of anything harder than that.

Are the ILCO 1137S blanks brass or steel?

I had no issues with the one I received.

I actually had a client the other day who insisted on my using the 1137S keys, I had to charge extra to cut them by hand, cause my Scottsman doesn't have a steel cutter in it https://keylessaccesslocks.com/747e-hpc ... y-machine/

I know your looking for a hand operated cutter but just thought I’d mention that if you have an HPC 1200 type machine they do have an attachment for some of the blitz models that will allow you to cut tubular keys on them. It’s definitely cheaper than the scottsman. https://youtu.be/7Kc0Ss6-nRo
