Sometimes things aren't spec (especially older locks), and cutting a key to spec won't produce a smooth result. It will still work but I'm a stickler for my keys working as smooth as butter.

I also prefer the Blitz's card over the ITL's paper booklet for a source on spacing/depth. Those cards will be lost before they're damaged or rendered illegible - they're bullet proof.

The ITL can be set to cut off spec. So for example you have worn locks dial in a few thousandths compensation. Which ITL are they installing? The ITL really is designed for its full potential when tied to a computer.

The jaw on the Blitz does not cut - it only holds the key. You need the Medeco cutter to cut the keys.

Never cut a Medeco key on a Framon.

Gordon

Hi Gordon,

Does the Framon machine have problems cutting Medeco keys? Why shouldn't you do this?

Thanks,

--Ted.

950.

I've played around with the custom tables but it's all much faster with manual controls. I can create a Blitz card faster than I can create a custom table (query it a heck of a lot faster too). And in such a scenario as yours, I don't really need to create a card at all, either going left or right of the depth mark.

It'll do and I've had a 950 on a truck before. Can handle Biaxial and I think the owner is going to become a Medeco dealer so we should be good to go. Always nice to not have an extra key machine if at all possible; hated having a dedicated MTL machine, for example - wasted space for something rarely used.

Yeah, I don't really like the 950 either.

I was unclear. Meant to say that I have never cut a Medeco key on a Framon machine. Quite sure it cuts the well, just that I have never done so.

Gordon
Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.
