I tried to connect to a vehicle recently; however, I was unable to. I found out, shortly after, a different locksmith with a different programmer was able to connect to the vehicles immobilizer and program the key I had cut for the customer. Can someone explain to me why this is the case? I am currently in the process of trying to get a new programmer, since i believe this is the issue. But can someone explain to me why this is the case? My programmer should've been able to connect to the immobilizer and program the key, no problem. I couldn't but someone else could. Please, I know there are locksmith secrets out there, but I am eager to learn and figure this out.

The simplest reason I know is a blown fuse, especially if you're connecting through an OBD system
the amount of fuses in newer vehicles is amazing, my Chevy p/u has like 5 fuse banks & their very well hidden. I wound up getting charged $125 the last time my obd2 unit blew a fuse & I took it to the dealer
Does the manufacturer of your machine have a way to test it remotely?

I use an x100 pad2. So I dont think they have any Teamviewer functionality to remotely test. I ran a diagnosis and couldnt even pick up the immobiliser but I was able to successfully communicate with the Car via OBDII. I just couldn't communicate with the Immobiliser. However, someone who came after me 2 hours later was able to communicate no problem. The customer didn't inform me of them having to switch the fuse or anything. But you're saying the OBDII fuse was blown? or are you saying that is an immobiliser fuse that is blown?

The OBD2 Fuse is shared in my Chevy with the cig lighter & the horn. If that fuse blows the OBD2 port is dead

I didnt have issues with the OBDII port. I was able to make the connection with the car and communicate with the vehicle. I was able to run a system diagnosis, but I failed to communicate with the immobilizer; however, someone else was able to. You think it might be a programmer with low battery issue? I dont think it's a fuse issue, otherwise my programmer wouldnt receive power upon linking it with the obdii port. It might be my programmer also. I am going to upgrade, but do you have any other ideas?
