Key Code Software

Postby nathan6343 » 7 Sep 2011 6:40

Hello everyone.
I have been in the electronic security industry in Australia for the past 8 years and a number of years ago I worked for a locksmithing company which sparked my interest in mechanical locking.
During my time there I picked up a few locksmithing skills and purchased some tools through them. I was also lucky enough to get a copy of Instacode (early 2008) but it is becoming quite old.

Basically what I am looking for is an updated copy of Instacode or an equivalent piece of software.
I would like to purchase this software through the wholesaler/trade suppliers here in Australia but they refuse to sell to non-locksmiths.

What is everyone’s thoughts on the different software packages around?

I don't know what to tell you about how to obtain them other than you really should be a locksmith and/or have a legit reason to purchase and use them, but I like Framon's Genericode software and HPC's CodeSource is nice as well but a little more finicky. Neither are perfect. For the price though, Genericode is the best deal.

I was trying to see what that site was all about, but it required a password. The demo is open, but is just that, a demo of looking up a code. Do they have any other source online where I can read about their service? ALSO, some applications are not compatible with the "STRAIGHT TALK" phone that I went to. (I got tired of the $148 per month and went to the $45/month unlimited job). I need to find out if it will work before I sign up.

I have a choice of Code Source Light or another gift with my new Blitz. If this is that good, I might just go ahead and get another gift and sign on to lockcodes

You can try calling the distributor back and tell them that you are more qualified than the shoe repairers that they sell their cloners and key cutters too :)

Try WH Software direct, ask about the online version, I haven't used it but have heard that it works out cheaper when you take into account the cost of updates every year. Buying Instacode will set you back about $2,600 too.

Out of interest, where did you work here in Aus?
