Is safe work really worth it?

I'm familiar with a federal facility that does a lot of safe lock-outs.
People get re-assigned, move, etc and the combos (which are supposed to not be written down) aren't available.
The safe techs don't manipulate, at least not to my knowledge.
They drill mostly, but with the electronic X-09 or X-07 locks they do a brute force attack; large diameter drill to open up the face plate then sawing through the locking bars.

It's not pretty.

It is not my main job and here are enough guys who drill. The nearest guy, I know, who can open with and without drilling, is 2 hours away.

Even guys who manipulate have to drill on occasion. For example electronic safes or a relocker issue.

There are safes which need a drilling or where drilling is the preferred way, yes, but I won't do them. There are enough good guys who can drill and who can do the job.
