[quote]They said my ad will be on page one as my company name begins with A, I said to the salesman can I have that in writing he say but I cant guarantee it.
And ill guarantee you wont!!
Sorry to put the dampners on this mate but my co name is A.C.L Locksmiths, years back we felt we had to and the .....0000 thing to compete, we are on page 6 of ten this year.
If you look in the free single line entries in the book this will show how things should be alphabetically.
The salesmen are liars and so are their managers.its sad but youre dammed if you do and youre dammed if you dont.
Dont let them talk you into spending more on big ads or multiple ads you are throwing your money away.

I'm not a lockie and have no experience of running adverts or companies, so my idea is most likely as useful as a penguin shelter in Texas.
How about getting several other lockies who cover different areas get a big advert between you with a lockies number next to their area. might be able to compete wityh the large companies like that, if you all adopt the we sodomise/drill your lock we replace it for free, I see that across the top and its first one I'd call.
Because I'm MCCCXXXVII
Penn Jillette- I've been saying aloud I was an Atheist since I was about 16. My parents still made me go to sunday church group until I was asked to leave for creating more Atheists.

if you have taken out an ad with one of the above phone books dont be put off streight away if you are getting no calls, as when the new book first comes out it takes quite a good few months for all the people to replace the new book with the old 1 they usually leave the new 1 in the packaging in the porch or under the stairs till they get round to slinging the old 1 for eg i used to do minor car body repairs and i had a small ad in the yellow pages and i still get phone calls ( last 1 a few days ago!!!!!!) from people and this ad was in 2 years ago, so it just shows
cheers
