Well I got down there in time, no problems. Left the 38 in the car... and on that - I took our "old car" the beat up one so it would not attract attention.
Tour - Well we got to watch combo locks being made, from the base sheet metal to the parts being injection molded to the actual plate tumblers being stamped out. Then it was into the shackle department where they made the things out of long bars of steel.
Interesting production from bar to finished unit. Takes several steps and now I know how to modify one for another lock.
From there we went into the lock department where they actually stamp out everyone of those plates in a laminated padlock, then followed the huge bins of parts into another department where they actually made up the things. Most of the final assembly however is done in Mexico, not at the Milwaukee plant. Milwaukee only makes the components.
Then into the lock department where they actually make the lock part. From bars of brass to finished cylinders. Keys being milled, and pins being made also from long reels of brass stock. A very interesting process. Tour took a bit over an hour and a half. Sorry no pictures, can't take any in the plant.
AND ONE OTHER NOTE --
Last night on the news, Milwaukee finally reached the 100 murder mark. Goof got shot in the alley ... GAD that has got to hurt, I don't know what is worse, getting shot in the alley, or the fracas!
Show is today at noon, so things to do before then.
