Yesterday i was called by a lady needing a lockout service on her home...she also said she recently got a restraining order against her ex boyfriend and wanted the entire house re-keyed while i was there. she had an infant baby with her stuck outside in the heat so i dropped everything and rushed over to get her into the home....

Once i arrived i found the lady and her NEW boyfriend sitting in their car in the garage with the AC running. First impression of the lady...TWEAKER??? hummm....

I had her begin my security waiver paperwork and quoted her about 95.00 for the Lockout (Sunday evening rate) while i picked open the garage door to the home.
once the door was open i walked back to the truck to get a pinning kit and those tools...while at the truck a big buffed out guy on motorcycle pulls up and walks into the home...is this the guy with the restraining order? i sense drama coming...

Turns out the motorcycle dude is a legal resident of the home. He is on the lease paperwork and the lady that called me out was the ex-girlfriend of a man who was evicted a week prior. Apparently she thought she would have a locksmith come out and get her into the home while no body was home...and then have all the locks changed. HA HA

The legal room-mate...although he looked like a badass..was helpful in giving me the "real" story.(he turned out to be a friend of the business on facebook) and was totally helpful in the situation.

The Police showed up and advised the lady that her and he new boyfriend needed to leave until the landlord ok'd them to be there...

The two drug addicted liars began piling their belongings into the car and were getting ready to leave. I advised the Police Officer that they still needed to pay me for the work that was done. He relayed this message to the party and they tried their hardest to say that the police dispatcher had advised them that if they wern't staying there then they need not pay the locksmith. The officer was very stern with them and told them that if they didn't pay me then they would be liable for Fraud and Theft charges. The ladys boyfriend quickly pulled out his wallet and handed me a visa card...i noticed a bunch of cash in the wallet and told him that due to the odd situation, i prefered to be paid cash.
And so he just forked over a 100.00 bill and we called it good.

The police officer and i...along with the legal roommate had a good laugh at the situation and i went on my way.

Later that night i received a facebook message from the Legal Resident...he now wants me to cut a key for his motorcycle and will recomend me to the landlord when they want to change their locks very soon!

CAN YOU SAY KARMA????

It's a good thing the legal roommate showed up in time to throw a wrench in things and its even better that you were able to not only get paid but also get more business as a result of what happened. Sounds like you handled yourself well and properly and are being rewarded.
