Whats the most shocking thing you have found behind a locked door besides a dead body?

Estate rekey job, last Wednesday -- SO I get this call to go out to Genesee to rekey a rather nice home. I am told it is worth about $375,000. Nice field stone exterior and interior, 10 acres of forest around the place. This is the South Kettle Moraine, Genesee Woods area, the job did not look like trouble, but when we got in .... the SMELLLLL!!!!! Turned out that there were six cats and THIRTY CHICKENS running around the inside of the place. Went out and got the pute mask, and waited for HAWS to show up to round up the chickens and cats. I am not sure where the old lady died, but the body was nowhere to be found. Just the animals, the excrement, the total mess, and the overwhelming smell.
Changed out the locks, the front door lock (Weiser) had been broken by the ambulance crew from the fire department when the came to pick up the lady. Not sure when that was, but it was some time before I got the call to go out there. My guess was in the last week or so. As to why the Genesee Fire did not get the animals out is anyone's guess.
Job done on about an hour.

i'm surprised that genesee fire didn't notify the milwaukee humane society.they recovered the body so they probably said to heck with the animals. out of sight, out of mind. they did what they were called to do and nothing else.

A realtor had me come and pick open an expensive rental in a rich area. He was worried because when he turned on the water it started seeping out of the garage door. I picked open the front door only to find that everything of value had been plucked out or cut out of the house and sold. The water was running in the garage because the last tenant had cut the water softener pipes and stole the softener, the cooktop and refrigerator were gone and even the stereo speakers had been pulled out of the ceiling and taken, or sold. No way could anyone be charged enough of a deposit to cover all the stuff that had been taken

This is Waukesha County. Here HAWS is out of Waukesha, and that who came out. I know the people over there personally, and we had a good time talking while the two interns cleared out the chickens. The cats, Jill (the HAWS officer) took care of herself. If you look at a map of SE Wisconsin, that large green area is the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Genesee Woods is the far east section on the north of it. It also includes Genesee Depot. It is about four miles from this location for reference. I mention this because of "10 Chimneys" the old residence of Lunt and Fontaine, the stage and screen actors who lived there until they died. It is now a property of the state historical society and open to the public. If you ever get into this part of the world, it would be worth your time to visit this place. It has been restored to it's 1940's art deco elegance. The views of this part of the world are stunning from the porches. Just north of the SKM, is the Lake District. We have over 61 rather large lakes in this area, perfect for all sorts of water fun from fishing to boating to just goofing off. This whole area is Walworth, Waukesha, and Dodge County all the way up to the Horicon Marsh. North of that the Northern section of the Kettle Moraine State Forest begins. Unlike the south unit, most of this is a patch work of private lands which are closed to the public. That runs from Hustiford near Holy Hill, to Fond du Lac, to Plymouth, where Elkhart Lake and Road America is located. This is a very lovely and busy part of the state, and we have been serving it since 1972. Sinifar

A couple Having Sex!
Back Story- Middle aged woman called and said she would need me to meet her at her house to let her in cause she forgot her house keys. Said she would be home from work in 30 minutes. Meet her at house and proceeded to pick open knobset and i pushed in door to see some dude giving all he had to the lady's daughter on the couch. Her daughter from what i grabbed skipped school with boyfriend. Mom had left work early!!
I never laughed so hard driving away from a job in my life.......also why i have full access camera system on my house. when my kids are teenagers they better think twice about everything they do when i'm not home.

Not the most shocking but it happened two days ago so it is more prevalent in my mind. Real estate rekey, no one supposed to be home, knocked 3 times, opened the door a crack and there he was, a very naked and hairy man standing there yelling as to why I didn't knock.

Got a call to a trailer park, overweight middle aged lady had locked herself out, kwikset, took a minute popped the door open and about puked. She should be on an episode of hoarders. I'm not going to lie I'm fairly inexperienced yet, but I know its never right to judge just by a glimpse of the open front door but in that glance I took in more than I wanted, Used tampons on the floor mixed in with old newspapers and fast food garbage.

This didn't happen to ME, but I'd heard a new hire at a company I used to work for got sent out on his FIRST call to open a locked bathroom in a house. He did-and found a dead guy who'd shot himself in the head.
