Just read the article. Nicely explained. And I learned a new trick from it about dressing the shim with a grinder. Normally I cut it with good scissors or shears. But that can leave the end slightly bent. Your way is better!

I subscribed to the digital version and receive access to years worth of the past issues in full pdf format with an excellent look up index.

I think it depends on what your interests are. If it is purely lock picking, it may not be that useful. If it has to do with locksmithing then it should be useful even to a newbie. As others have stated it comes with access to a few years of back issues. Every month there are one or two articles I get something out of. Shop Talk is usually good (recently it has gone over master keying for a variety of different locks). Looking foreword to more articles by Tyler. New product reviews are sometimes glorified ads, but good to know what products are coming out.

It has a monthly photo-essay on opening a new safe by Dave McOmmie--always interesting. Also a monthly feature on automotive--might be enough to help one determine if they find it interesting or terrifying.
