So was it 12 volts or 24 volts? Otherwise I see no relevance to the topic.

Sorry to be an arse but we all have issues and it is probably best to talk about that sort of stuff in the general chatter section.

12v bro, it ended up being 12v more access control systems are. 12v mag lock with motion egress and power supply. it was a stand alone system but i dont know now, it may have changed i wouldnt know. i no longer work for the guys anymore.

Old Post, 24 volts draws half of what 12 volt does. Can get more power through small conductors with 24 Volts. Cameras are Simular(12 and/or 24 volts and may be AC and/or DC.
12 Volts is great as you can easily Back Security/Cameras, Many Electronics with a 12 Volt Battery. Can use a Car Battery to give Alarm System large backup times after a Hurricane, or during an Extended Power outage. AC or DC should be a question. With AC, You would need an Inverter. Best to Stay at 12, as any converting/inverting, their is a loss.
