lee electric strikes?

I was sent a mini catalogue for lee electric strikes from American Key Supply and it looks ridiculously cheap. Being familiar with the HES electric strike series, which is in my opinion crap, is Lee about the same quality because it appears to me to be a fraction of the price Assa Abloy charges for their garbage.

What electric strike brand do you primarily use?

Hmm. I do probably hundreds of electric strike installs a year and disagree with your HES assessment. I wouldn't use them if they were crap. I will be installing 6 on Monday and do not expect any failures for many years based on previous experience. They also install faster than some other brands.

Now Trine I have had trouble with many of them. Adams Rite again another problematic strike. ROFU OK. Von Duprin good but pricy and harder to install and the same for Folger Adams.

Lee looks like the crappy Trine to me.

Just looked at the Lee strikes and personally I wouldn't use them. Who the heck makes a strike that only works 3-6 VDC? Access control systems will be 12 VDC or 24 VDC. HES works on both.

HES can be field changed either fail-safe or fail-secure. HES has a faceplate for all sorts of applications, not fixed faceplates. The faceplates on HES are stainless steel. Tabs and shims are included with HES.

Just compared Lee Dan and Trine and I believe they are a private label Trine made for much lower voltage. Compare Trine series light duty strikes to the Lee Dan.

Cost of the part really isn't much of a concern for me as I price an entire job and also factor in the reliability of the product. A single return call for an issue costs me more than the difference between a Lee Dan strike and a HES. That is in just money, what you have to consider is customer satisfaction for your customer. Besides you make more on the mark up of a more expensive product, so you can make $40 on a Lee Dan unless you overcharge or about $90 on the HES. Simple economics alone says which one I would choose.

You are also comparing a Grade 3 strike to a Grade 1 strike. Would you install a Kwikset knob in a commercial application or sell them a commercial product that will meet their needs and ensure your reputation?
