Trying to find the right school...

Postby Moosekace » 6 Mar 2009 2:50

I am looking to get into the R&D side of locks and was wondering if anybody had any recommendations on a college that I could go to to help me get started.I have the basics down just fine so i've been trying to sift through the basic courses that are everywhere but am not having much luck. Maybe a suggestion on what to study. Mechanical Engineering maybe?

Thanks for any help!

I hate to be cynical, especially with a group name like mine  but you might be better off studying electronic engineering and/or computer engineering.

More and more mechanical locks are being made overseas now it seems as costs are lower. The few companies who still manufacture in the west, probably have more mechanical engineers than they know what to do with. To get them to take you on, the competition level might be very high indeed.

With locks themselves seeming to be sliding towards electronic mechanisms, or computer-controlled access, that might be a more secure future if you are sure.

Thanks for the response. I'm still doing a lot of research but someday I'll let you know what I decide. :?
