Washington State Licensing Requirements

Washington does not require individuals to obtain a locksmith license in order to do business as a locksmith within the state.
Individuals can obtain a business license in the city of their choice and hang a shingle.
This has been a problem for WAY TOO LONG.

Non-professionals have been ruining the reputation of the industry and the industry has done nothing effective to counter it to date.
We need some useful and hardworking lobbyists in the Pacific Northwest!

I had to get a Specialty Contractors License "CCSQ - Locks, Security and Alarm Systems". Although no training requirements, it did require insurance and a bond to get the license. The bond took a background check before being issued. this was in addition to state and city business licenses and resellers permit. I keep copies off all of these in my van.
