Advice from experience?

Hello all,
I recently got called in for an interview for an apprenticeship cutting and programming keys for cars. Also service and installation of doors and what not a bit later on. I have never had any professional training or experience. What I'm asking is if you were looking to hire an apprentice, what questions would you ask? What qualities in an applicant would make one stand out above the rest?

I ask because I'm nervous, really. I always get nervous for interviews and such. Idk why, but I do.

I started my locksmith career many years ago in much the same way.

Main things are a willingness to work. Good work ethic (on time, not calling in sick). Good driving record and no felonies. Mechanical ability. Tidy appearance helps. Literacy and good math skills helps although are secondary.

Any skills that can translate to the locksmithing trade, such as mechanics, fabrication, welding, carpentry, computer skills.

A lot of truth to this. One of the best guys I know that installs commercial doors, gates, frames, etc. started out as a metal fabricator in a body shop.
