A note about bonding

A note about bonding

Postby Raccoon » 3 Feb 2006 14:08

An interesting thing about Bonding insurance in New Mexico (and perhaps other states), is that nobody will issue you a bond unless someone is requiring bonding of you.

Because Locksmithing is almost completely deregulated in the United States, that is, ver very few locations require any sort of licensing or certification, a bonder simply will not issue you a bond because you have no need for one.

Further still, there is no bonding in New Mexico (and perhaps other states) which will cover against liability and damage. The only bond the bonders (I spoke to this last month) will issue, is a Dishonesty Bond, which covers you against lying to your customers about services, rates, and work performed. It does not cover against damage or theft to customer property. And again, you need to show evidence of requiring such a bond, such as demand from a road-side assistance provider like Tripple-A.

I find this rather disconcerting.

I thought this thread would be about getting naked and beating a drum around a campfire with new friends.

I was aiming for fuzzy handcuffs-- but whatever floats your boat. :P
