I like this one for the fact if i run into a problem i can talk to the owner. He sent me his cell phone number and it seems like this course covers everything and more!!!.i checked out Penn And a few others but this one gives you alot more for you money. and its only $650 with tools.

It actually looks pretty good, I'm just wondering other than getting you familiar with aspects of the job, if it provides any kind of credentials or certificate that someone like an ALOA locksmith shop would consider when taking on a new apprentice or employee.

Thanks for sharing the link,

I just finished the advanced plus program that he offers, and also have talked to him a couple times. i have also looked at material at a couple other places offered online as well as in a classroom.

i have been an instructor in a completely different field for several years, and think that his program is quite good. from a student standpoint i felt i learned a lot in a very easy way. not a lot of time is wasted on simple tools, it is shown hands on, and i was able to follow along. my biggest area of problem was in master keying, but after watching, and following along and doing the exercise in the workbook, then doing it hands on it started to click. i am not saying that after going thru the program i can do everything and know everything out there by any means. i do feel very confident and think that program was the best bet from what i have reviewed.

i do suggest you also pick up a copy of 'The Complete book of locks and locksmithing' (4th edition i think is the latest) that will help a lot as well, and a very good resource. i picked up a copy for $2 used.

i am a complete noob in this forum, but as a fresh set of eyes, i would have to say it was money very well spent.

as far as getting in the door, i called a locksmith company in a nearby area that is associated with ALOA, and after talking with him for a bit he said that from the sounds of it there would be a good chance i could get on as an apprentice with him. the reason i talked to a different area is the i have recently moved and i know the reputation of the locksmith company that i called, and wanted to get thoughts from a company that was very reputable.
