You need a locksmith license in Saskatchewan.

This involves specific training and an apprenticeship.

I wasn't sure if I should respond, but since somebody from Canada did already, I can add -

This is a business of public trust. If you have any kind of criminal record this is going to be a tough slog. Now maybe a DUI / OWI might be passable, normally people working in this trade have never had any run in with the law. Although I know if you do have a OWI you can't visit Canada. Something about that which bugs them.

Then again, I do have a friend who did a stint in the Federal Correctional system and he works as a smith, so ....

Just my 2 cents worth, your mileage may vary ...

I can't speak for your obtaining a locksmith license, but I have, over the years had two felonies expunged from my record.
I rather doubt I could pass a background check, but my rights have been restored and I do vote & carry concealed. I am
also self-employed, so my record is rarely called into existance & the clients I have who are aware of my record have no
fear of my repeating the actions of my past.
I would recommend your becoming self-employed as a locksmith, but then I would even if you did not have a record.
