Blanks too soft?

I bought 10 of these Y1 blanks. Trying to impression an Abus padlock. But they break really quickly. I don't think I'm over exerting pressure on them.

I don't know who made these. They have a "G" on the bow.
Anyone else with similar experiences?

Those are from General Lock, a house brand of Anixter, formerly Clarks.

I think the fault is mine. I just made a key for my Abus padlock... and purposely decreased my turning pressure and shook more. I'm breaking the keys because I wasn't getting marks.

If the blank is sift like yours you might get away with just rotating the blank left and right.
Impressioning takes practice and breaking keys is part of this process. When I teach people I don't make a big deal out of the fail as they are neccesary.
"How much torque do I need to use?" Just enough not to break a key, this comes with experience.

I would like to measure the torque I use while impressioning but have not found a way to do this yet.
