Where to buy locks?

Postby Perritoo » 5 Apr 2018 7:41

Hi there,

I've been searching in the Forum but I couldn't find info about where to buy locks.

I already have my picks but I'd like to buy locks for intermediate/advanced on amazon in order to practice and master my skills. All the locks I've seen come keyed alike which is useless. Have you bought Keys on amazon before? Any shop/set of lock that you would recommend me please?

Thanks in advance.

I have only bought locks from amazon once or twice because most of the better deals are on ebay. If you use the keywords "different", "lot" and "locks" you might be able to find a good deal for what your looking for. As for the suggestions I would recommend American 1100's, Abus Titalium and Commando locks.

Mr Wizard sells a 7 stack lock that comes with an assortment of pins and springs so you can re-pin it to your hearts content.
There is also the 7 Pin Ultimate Adversary lock. It too comes with pins, springs and hardware.

I can highly recommend MrWizard’s practice lock. Shoot him a PM!

habitat for Humanity Restore, you will end up with piles of kwikset and schlage and not much else (I say that with a degree of hesitation, I have seen members here find amazing locks at the restore, but I have yet to find anything rare or high-sec), but its a start

It would help us if you filled in your profile so we know where in the world you are located.

The vast majority of my collection was purchased on Ebay.. Commonly available locks, e.g. Master were purchased locally at Big Box Store or Smithy Shop
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

I have bought bags of locks at local Goodwill stores (thrift stores that sell mostly used goods) often at less than a dollar a piece. On the other hand I have seen them NIB for more that list price. You never know what you will find and may have to make several trips to find a specific item. On the other hand you may well find something else worth buying.
