Looking for help on getting started as a locksmith

Postby crashandburn » 1 Nov 2005 20:08

I was sitting watch a locksmith make a key for my girl friend who has a habbit of loosing her keys. Except this one was a transponder key. On top of everything the guy made the key from scratch. Now this might seem easy to all of you but this sparked my interest both because I like new challenges and because I am getting out of the Marine Corps and need a new line of work. My mind is in over drive and I need guidence. Does anyone know where I can go with this. Who should I talk to about learning more? I'm just full of questions. Help!

There is a ton of info in the first forum on this site. have a read through there and check back next week when you're done. ;) Might look at a course by Foley Belsaw.

Good luck, and welcome to the site!

Wow, making a transponder key from scratch. That's some serious workmanship. First you've got to mould the plastic head, then make the circuit board, then program the circuit board, then.......

J/k.

Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....
