Let me just say I'm not actually peddling my warez, but something just occured to me - I work for a large patent search engine company, and we have all sorts of online images of inventions.
These are all available from their representative patent offices - british library does them as well.
Each of these patented locks has c-sections of the locks and text on how they work (and what makes them different to usual locks).
So if you're looking for some indepth info on patented locks, go looky at the patent info and see if it helps :- ) Google and you ought to find some free engines and some commercial.
I won't go into any sales spiel, 'cos if I do, I'll likely be banned and I don't want my new hobby to be taken away from me ;- )

No, you aren't, but you could 'pimp' some relevant patent numbers to us, to aid in our searches.
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

Hehe.
*Dimmy Locks suddenly disappears forever. The new member "Pick Pimp" seems to share strangely similar characteristics....*

To access these patents go to
http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/srchnum.htm
and keyin the number in the search box.
If you want the entire patent including images (tiff format) you need to have the proper viewer installed.
http://www.uspto.gov/patft/help/images.htm gives a link to install a tiff viewe that works with United States Patent Offices.
For a more general type search try http://www.uspto.gov/patft/
All patents from 1976 onward can be easily searched.
For older patents you can only search by patent number and or a classification number. The classification numbers are something like the numbers the library uses to identify the topics of books.
To properly dig out the best of the patents will take a certain amount of skill. Frequently patents do not mention the word lockpicking or even locksmith in them. Finding key words to search on is not always that easy.
Its a great treasure hunt ....
Also ..... there are excelent patents issued by the governments of Canada, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, etc etc ...
Here is A to B of my list to get you started. If there is enough interest I will post the rest that I have indexed.
