Wrong Tubular Key Stuck in Lock

Postby chrisgc » 7 Nov 2005 12:09

Hi everyone.

I have a three year old daughter who has managed to put a tubular key in my bike lock (D-Lock).

The think is its not the right key for the lock.

The key has been inserted into the lock and turned slightly and as a result I am unable to simply pull it out.

My question is: Is there any way of extracting the key?

Please can someone reply even if there is no way of doing it as it would save me so much time searching through the internet if it cant be done.

Many thanks
chrisgc

It might be possible to force the key back to the normal position and get it out. However, if the key has somehow been turned one point, you won't be able to do that. Your only hope is that you can wiggle the key a whole lot.

Another option might be to tap the key hard on the end with a hammer as you try to turn it towards the key removal position. If you are lucky, it might bump the pins and turn.

Odds are, though, you need a new lock!

NKT Has it right, I got into the same situation. I hit it hard a few times with a hammer and it knocked it loose.

HMMM.... alll this talk of hammers and keys have me wondering if it is possible to bump key a tubular lock... Off to do some searching...

Check Lockpicks Manual, new topic on the matter in which I link to an old topic on the matter.
