Ditto on CitySpider's comments. Wafer locks are everywhere. They are found in most cars, desks, filing cabinets and overhead bins. In fact just about every office in the land has dozens. The office ones are usually super-easy (this is one instance when even paperclips can work as a rake and a wrench). You can tell a wafer because when you look inside you see a flat sheet of metal where the pins should be.

Car/Truck wafer locks often use sidebars and are much more challenging. Plus there are high security wafer locks which are a real bear (from what I hear), but I haven't run across any of them yet.

Unlike the others, I would say not to be discouraged about the ball pick if one comes in your set. Give it a try and see how it works for you. A double-ball might be excessive, but having a good variety of picks is "nice" not "essential". You'll find if you have a bit of a variety in your set that you'll end up only using two or three, but it's always nice knowing that when you run across something that seems to be difficult, that you have some options at hand.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't use the single or double ball that often, but this is a rather personalized hobby, and you need to find/make tools that will best suit you.

I will add my voice to others in also saying not to go above the 20 piece set or so since all of the larger sets merely get into duplicates.

The 3/4 rake is my personal favorite, and the bigger selection of tension wrenches you have, the better of you'll be. These, in reality are more important than the picks themselves...IMHO. :)

Good luck and enjoy. :)

Hello Varjeal,

Thanks for that info. I would never have thought tension wrenches played that important a role. I'm glad I ordered a few extras with my MPXS-14 order...I can't wait to get them. They are being shipped today! It's pretty bad that last night I was lockpicking in my sleep. I couldn't believe how excellent I was at it. Of course, in reality, I''ll be lucky if I'll be able to open my filing cabinet lock!

I can't wait to practice...I've scrounged several locks I had lying around in my garage that are just waiting to be picked.

Enough rambling...I feel like a little kid!

PS- The first night I receive the pics, I'm sleeping with them under my pillow.
