Help required - Juwvl safe with dead batteries!

Postby Tim Kirby » 27 Jan 2006 14:09

Can anyone help - I've a client who owns a Juwvl (not sure of spelling) safe with a digital lock on. He knows the code however...... yep the batteries are dead. The safe has a key that can be used in the event of this happening however..... yep he's lost it!

The key hole (sorry no photo) indicates that it is a double bitted key with probably 5 levers each side.

Has anybody got an idea of what could be used to pick the lock as I don't want to put any drill holes in the door?

Any help much appreciated.

call a locksmith, that is your best bet....

due to the fact that safe issues are not usually allowed in the main forum.

Ah, I apreciate that - the unfortunate thing is that I'm not allowed in the safe forum - 'chicken or the egg syndrome' or what.

I thought these have an override which allows you to power them in case the batteries die. perhaps the safe's manual may have something about this.

I guess a locksmith if not.

Nope, i've had dealings with these before. If there is no 'key option' there is an external battery option; but not both!

I've checked out the web site www.juwel.it and gives you a handy diagram of the internal workings of the lock...... so no secrets there then.

If you check it out you see a right nasty piece of work: double gated, 8 levers and 5 x anti pick notches just for good measure.

My question now is:

Does anybody know whether it would be possible to pick this with a 2 in 1 pick? I don't see why not....... could do with some reasurance though.

{rant}

Great going... I bet pinky and digital_blue love getting PMs from folks needing special attention because what they need is needed both quickly and in violation of the site rules.

Back when I was getting PMs... I simply send the questioning soul a link to my paypal donation site ($100)... and told them I had to charge my friends as my enemies refuse to do business with me. Nobody ever paid the fee... :(

This, of course, presumes that the the mods/admins have any intimate knowledge of safes... something that is not a prerequisite for becoming a mod/admin.

As a matter of fact, being a particularly good lockpicker is not even a prerequisite. Good thing for me. :D

Anyway, clearly this thread cannot really go on much longer, as no "good" info can be given in the public forums. I'm not locking it, because there's really no good reason to, but the bottom line I think is that there are other locksmith-specific forums that would be better suited for questions like this. Tim, you may wish to check out Locksmiths101.com

Cheers. :)
