Let's say, for example, you've picked the lock counter clockwise, but need to turn it the other way to open the lock.
leave the keyway turned 90 degrees (ie: parallel with the ground). Wind up the plug spinner one half turn (180 degrees). Put the blade in, and release. It should turn the plug one half turn, so the keyway is once again roughly parallel with the ground, but turned clockwise.
