Where can i get this door ?

Postby toomush2drink » 11 Feb 2006 15:32

Ok can anyone help me out i need to source a supplier of a door. Its a fire door 44-45mm thick and a standard 78"h x 33"w. Its an oak finish with surface mounted decorative beading and is used on a lot of flats around the thamesmead area. The flats were built by barrats and the owner of the flat is going to contact them for a price so if i can get a price i may get the job. I can get a plain oak fire door but it wouldnt really fit in with its surroundings. The reason for this is because somebody broke into this flat by kicking it and smashing it repeatly with a hammer, repairing it isnt an option as they smashed a hole all around the euro deadlock case then kicked it. The good new is as it took them so long to get through they got caught  .

If the door got smashed in, why do they want to replace it with the same one.? If they can smash it in once, they can smash it in twice.

If the beading is raised, can you apply it to the fire door?

supplying a photo may help to locate a match

Hiya toomush,
i live in Thamesmead as you know. My friends parents struggled to replace their door after it was attacked by kids. The door was discontinued, hopefully its not the same door. I can't remember exactly what it was like. This was also a Barrats fitted door and took over 2 months for them to find one. Hope this is not the case for you.

where the owners in the house at the time they where trying to break down the door??? that must have been the worst experience for them if so... if it was taking so long i would think a window would of been better (this is not say to go breaking in peoples windows... its just out of curiosity)

Thanks for the replies guys. I may have to supply one from howdens without the mouldings. The owner just wanted to try to match the surrounding doors as the flats are so new. Yes there was stuff to nick but most flat probably have as they are 200k riverside flats overlooking the thames. Whilst it did get broken it took a good half hour, most thieves dont try for this long especially when the door is next the the lift !! No wonder they got caught. With a souber lock guard wrapped around the mortice lock it would have survived so im gonna fit one of these if the owner wants to stump up the extra.
