Are you supposed to move the needle in and out of the handle or is it adjustable to make the pick different lengths.

has anybody had any success with this thing. it got it for free.

I think it should lock into position when you pull it out - I don't think you can make it different lengths...

well it's basicaly a rake albeit ugly and heinous, but looks like it would have as much success as any other rake

Well I bought one and it works great with everything I've raked so far. It looks cumbersome but I find it more comfortable in my hand than the SouthOrd picks. The tube also protects the pick from bending or damage when not in use. The rake is simply screwed onto the end of the adjustable shaft allowing you to lock it open in any length required with the set screw on the side. Release the set screw and the spring pushes the pick back into the tube. The tension wrench is locked onto the side of the tube with the set screw on the back end of the tube. So it's a very durable alternative to standard picks allowing you to store it almost anywhere as a backup for emergency purposes. Like if you accidently locked your regular tools in your car, house..or whatever. And at $20. US it's not overpriced for the use I've gotten out of it. I give it 5 stars!

I got mine just a few days ago... granted its a little expansive the comfort and ability to carry it around places and people not really caring less. Now i consider it a wafer popper... becuase that all i use it for, ihave a chevy cavalier(transponderless key) and can pop my door locks and enigine with it BUT! i must use a special tensions wrenc. So for situations that are deprerate its a great back up. That why i bought it plus you can always manufacture your own specail pciks for it, actually i think i found a site where they sell every pick head imaginable for it.. i will do some searching and post. There only like 1$ and if they fit good then the pick is good in even more ways. As far as a it being an essential pick, you dont need it but for 20 bucks and having a concealed and no profile pick for sticky situations it was worthmy investment. The only thing is the tension wrench is very wide.. may need some grinding, and the picks width is not standard, but those are the only flaws. I also noticed its the pic they use in gone in 60 seconds, only they modded it like i did by reversing the spring to it pops out into place pretty cool. But any way its well worth the money for a back up thats very portable and clips to your pocket.

I used to use that pick all the time, with limited success, then got some spring steel HPC's and gave away the kwik pick ... world of difference

man, how do you use those things, i have a southord electric pick and i have no idea how to use it, i have tried all different things and i still cant pop any lock

hmm... that's entirely different to an electro pick...

Use light tension whilst using the electropick, and bounce the tension to further help.

I may buy one of those Quickpicks to see how god-aweful tacky it really is.

When I first got my kwick pick, I moved the rake in and out and I was sucessfully in many locks. Then I started putting the rake into position and was pretty sucessful as well. If you put it into position you use it like a regular rake and it works pretty well but you can allways do the technic of in and out because it's just a matter of movement. About the tension wrench, never really had a problem with that but with the pen pick set I had that problem. It's too wide doesn't fit any lock I came across with.

I don't think that's a good idea because when you're not using it, the spring is under tension and it may ruin it after some time.

I wonder wether there are people who make their own "slimlines" that way.

Probably it would but I never really tried. I don't use it for now, I always wear my jack knife with me and use it all the time. Maybe I'll grind the pen pick set tension wrench some time.

i always thought the rake lurched out or something to bump the pins up...its too bad its just a rake

i found that the tension wrench would come out of the holder while carrying because the screw at the top would come loose .so i used to put a elastic band round to keep it in place .
