Auto Jigglers

Postby Tixo » 19 Feb 2004 13:06

Hi,

I've recently purchased some auto-jigglers and I'm having a bit of trouble.

Could someone list the vehicles they have succeeded in opening and maybe even starting?

I'm not much of a gear head!

Thanks.

PS. Could someone supply me with videos?

There are loads of types of auto jigglers on the market ranging from laser cut to standard double waifer locks.
I take it you have the standard double waifer jigglers.
These usually work best on older cars, the myth behind the jiggler is that you can just insert them into a lock and with a little shake the lock will open.( no chance )
Jigglers work similar to someone raking a lock when picking it,using a jiggler is all down to technique, you will need to practice inserting the key all the way to the back of the lock then rocking it slightly up and down whilst apllying a slight amount of torque and easing it back and fowards.
If you have no luck remove the key, then turn it up the other way and try again.
Do this with each key,and hopefully you will eventually get lucky.

Dark...do you know if the jigglers(assuming you're using the correct one of course) work with sidebars?...and if so...do you know how?

I honestly dont know if they work with sidebars,in the uk very few vehicles have those types of locks so i have never tried one on a car with a sidebar.
Sorry

Auto jigglers can work in door locks/ignitions, however, the chances of getting the vehicle started are nil if it is equipped with a transponder-immobiliser system. Refer to:

viewtopic.php?t=1275

and read the entire thread for more info.

Red, in reference to your:

do you know if the jigglers(assuming you're using the correct one of course) work with sidebars?...

the answer is.....No!
Jigglers will only align the wafers in the cylinder. A side-bar has to be disengaged also, before the lock will rotate. The method required to do this will not be discussed on an open forum. Hope you appreciate the reasoning behind this, and manage to work it out for yourself from the info given.

BTW, The method will also not be discussed by PM.

Mad Mick: Actually, you are wrong in saying that auto jigglers will not work with sidebars. They do.

All GM doors and ignitions contain sidebars and I have successfully used auto jigglers on occasion to open several GM locks. It takes a bit of work and a touch of luck.

I may be slightly confused here. Having had 'a go' at several ignitions with what I perceive to have side bars (i.e. Nissan, Ford etc.), I have found that once the wafers have been 'set', I still have to disengage the sidebar manually whilst keeping slight tension on the ignition plug....

A 'jiggler' doesn't seem to be able to to this simultaneously for me.

Any further tips would be accepted graciously.

thanks guys...you've both been of help...i suppose it would depend on how tight the springs are...i've put these together in the shop and they seem to be extremely tight to start out...mad mick, i would never expect anything of the sort to be discused here...i have great respect for this forum and it's rules...i was merely asking a general question for future reference when I come across them later down the road.

A tip to keep in mind is to think of sidebar's as a second "sheer line" that must be accomodated for the lock to turn.

*Slaps self about the head, as Mother used to do.*
Stop *slap* confusing *slap* jigglers *slap* with *slap* rocker *slap* picks!! *slap*............"Stop cowering when I'm slapping you".......*slap*.

BTW Red, I was directing you to the other post, in regards to your query about starting the engine, and to give you an insight into transponder theory.

I hope you didn't take my opinion on the sidebar method/PM's the wrong way. I wasn't referring to you specifically, what I was trying to point out, is that form the general opinion of the regular users, they would not like this information to be discussed publicly. Also, as we don't really know who we are talking to (I could be a car thief for all any of you guys know...I'm not, but only I know that for certain), PM's can be a way of passing on info to someone who should not know it, on moral/ethical grounds.

If you would like to know more about sidebars, you will find plenty of sites on Google, using ignition lock sidebar as keywords.

Hope this clears things up, I wouldn't want to offend anyone. 8)
