good locks to learn on

Postby davidj7 » 28 Feb 2006 7:29

i really do apologize if this has already been posted. i am new to lockpicking and full of enthusiasm. i've been practicing like crazy on one lock that i borrowed from a friend for the last couple weeks. but i need to move on to more challenging locks. unfortunately, all the locks that i have to practice on are far to difficult for my meager picking skill. i was wondering what are some good brands to buy. should they be padlocks or something else? any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
pura vida,
dj

i enjoy doing masterlock padlocks, i hear kwikset is good to learn on,
but ive learned what i know from masterlock padlocks.

I don't know about your country but here in Portugal, the cheaper a padlock is the easiest it is to open (almost all the time), the big ones are easier. Euro tumbler locks are also very easy if they are cheap (no high security pins) though they are harder to pick than padlocks. They are good for starters.

I started out on a kwikset. I remember i thought it was so amazingly difficult but now i have learned and moved on to bigger and better locks. Kwikset or any no name brand should be fine.
