Heavy tension question..

Postby WDPaladin » 14 Mar 2006 15:38

Ok I've been pickin all the personal locks I can find but have run into a stop here. I noticed that the back door of my building is one of those really heavy doors with a push-bar across the center on the inside, and only a keyway and handle on the outside. My question is this, it takes quite a bit more than the usual twisting of the key to open the door, and the keyway springs back to the closed position after letting the key go. I dont think a tension wrench could possibly have enough strength to twist a lock like this open! Anyone run into things like this, already done this, or have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help..

You may be able to pick the lock normally, then use a screwdriver to turn the plug.

You could bend the end of a scredriver to 90 degrees, this should create enough turning force. Failing that you could grind the head of an allen key so that it fots the keyway.

Thanks for the input. Yea I don't have immediate intentions of picking it, but I just noticed it walking in one day and had that thought come to mind. Well thanks again..
