ok, my friend hands me a Brinks padlock with a sheared ring ( I don't know what you call that part =p ) cuz he knows i collect stuff like that. Now I dabbled in picking for a while, and never did get anywhere, but I went a filed off the rivets on the layered padlock, took it apart, and pulled the 4-pinned lock out. I made a few wanna-be picks with some paper clips and plyers, and put some tension on the it, half-heartedly fumbling around with the paper clip. I discover that by flipping the thing upside down, and looking inside to watch the pins, i could push'em down easily, and unlocked it. I repeated this untill I could really feel what was going on with the paper clip. I started doing it without looking, then with the lock right-side up. I can now pick the thing in my sleep, but for some reason, I can never get my house door open the same way, I figured cuz I wasn't putting enough tension on it, and i never got the feel for the inside of my house locks.

I just put this up here cuz I know you guys know what you are talking about, and had to share my problem with someone

First of all, it will be hard to pick any lock with paperclips. You can buy picks (preferred) or make them out of hacksaw blades.
Secondly, the lock you are trying to pick probably has 5 pins. With the 5 pins there may be security pins involved.
You also arent getting as much feedback from the lock if it is mounted on a door. When you hold the lock you can feel what is going on better inside.

Just keep practicing and you will eventually get it, unless it is a medeco or something...
Good Luck
