Toool has a couple of good videos about bump keys which can be found on this site. I made one for kwickset locks that use the kw1 key blank. just filed down a couple of old keys until I got one that worked well - then I took it into work and made myself a couple of copies on my key duplicator. (just a note if you are making one for a kwickset, the deepest cut will probably only be a 7.)

#1. A normal "keycutter" will not be able to code cut you a key.

#2. Only a locksmith or someone with a code machine can originate a bump key.

#3. You can cheat by finding a key with a couple of positions at the deepest, then duplicating these positions with a file (or dremel) on another key. Once you have a key that works, simply take it to any "keycutter" and have duplicates made.

#4. Hone your search-fu and you'll find a few good threads on bump keys...or just check the Lockpicks-Manual forum and browse through the threads.

A locksmith probably won't cut you a bump key if you ask for it by name, and if you give him the "code" for a bump key (debatably, "10,10,10,10,10" for most key types or "7,7,7,7,7" for a Kwikset, though some would say 9s or 6s), you're definitely going to raise his eyebrows.

Varjeal's got the best advice. It looks like his third point is the best way to get your hands on a bump key. :)
