Question about buying picks for seasoned pickers.

I am getting bored with bump keys so I now want to mess around with picking some more. I would make my own (via the videos) only I just dont have the equipment. So it is actually cheaper for me to buy a set. I am thinking about this one.

It contains the basic stuff and is very James Bondish in size. Which ranks it very high on the bad-a$$-o-meter. Is this a reasonable beginner set to get? Are full sized pick alot easier to use or will these work fine? I could go with a full sized set but i think this one is really neat.

Buy some standard picks as that will not be a good set of tools. Search for Jack knife picks for more info.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

I have some basic 14 piece sets in the BST forum you can take a look at. Otherwise, I would just start with a basic pick available from lockpicks.com or lockpickshop.com.

Hmm they look that tempting eh? I really wanted you to entushiastically suggest them. I guess I will have to buy some slightly lower on the bad-a$$ scale.

From what I have seen the jack knife they have at that site contains the same size picks. I guess i will probably just go with a more generic set. Either that or one of the pen grip picks. They look pretty comfortable.

A set of 5 simple picks - not expensive, and will pick a wide range of locks. Get these in my oppinion.

The set you showed seem to have small handles, and I'd imagine it's a bit gimmicky, saying this however, I have never tried them so may be wrong. :)

Go with the standard size, those will be to small, i made pint size picks for my girlfriend and she pops lock with them like nothin hense girl small hands, i tried them and i cant do anything with them. Plus yea there kinda james bondish but he had nice cars a hords of laides so i dont think it will kill ya to get a full size set, plus you really dont need to be carring them around anyway, but if you want backup go for a jack knife.
