Lever lock identification.

Postby jordyh » 16 Apr 2006 10:24

Hello,

I have bought a lever padlock with 2 keys on the black market in Holland.
It looks old, but looks gan be deceiving, especially there.
It cost me 10 euro's (darn seller) and i'd like to know a couple of things.

1: how much it would be worth on ebay after some cleaning?
2: how hard it is most likely to pick?
3: would it have anti pick notches in the levers?

To find this out, i have the following information.

It is an old ERA 5 lever "insurance" padlock.
Patent number is 617582, and it is made in England.
(front shield says 'secure 5 lever')

Now, i'd like to see how far i can get with that patent number, but i'm having difficulties with understanding how to do that.

My intentions are to pick it, try to get a good understanding of lever locks, and perhaps sell it after use (if it is worth parting with).

Any help would be very much appreciated.

(a picture of the lock might follow)

This is an easy pick with the RB 2-in-1 pick, and no it doesn't have anti-picks. These padlocks retail at around £25 new.

Ah thanks.
Then it will make an easy prey for me to practice on. :)
