Is it really posseble to crack safes by listening to the lock? Not asking how to, but if it is posseble. it would just be fun to know if the hollywood movies actually where true :D :D

Yes,

Its a process of manipulation, hearing and touch are both important factors.

There is a bit of truth behind it, but the entire process is pretty condensed in the movies. Listening out is just the first step of it.

And although safecracking and info regarding it is limited to the advanced forums, i'll be brave and post some highly secretive but informative link.

It's not specialy secret, since it would be very easy to find it.

Matt Blaze wrote something that may be of interest.

easier

its altogether easier to turn the dial with your fingers. and if the safe is in a noisy environment, you may want a special amplifier that has a mic that sticks right on the door. don't forget to feel the wheel drag on the fence, if its a top drop gate.

I dont know, it seems to me using your fingers to turn the dail would be much easier , less chance of an ear infection too.

Sorry, it was a horrible joke. I couldnt help it. 8)
