could anyone recommend lockpicking software?

I found this one, anyone know if its any good? Its called "The Locksmith: Pick locks like a professional".

Software seems to be better than DVDs because they could hold whole archives of information plus effects and whatnot.

Does anyone know where to find the more expensive lockpicking software CD-ROMs?

cheers

i go to a shooting club and theres a locksmith who goes there.. i gave him a dvd... www.toool.nl have a video called bumping revisited (1997 i think)

but he couldn't get it to work so he bought his laptop in...while it was setting up, he showed me a key cutting program...plug it into a key cutting machine, and pick the manufacurer. then just type the code of the key you want cut (ie. bump key is 999 etc.)

hope that helps...if not, then im clueless :P (its illegal to use the program outside a locksmith company... if i get the name of it, ill reply to this saying for you :D )

yeah that sounds cool...

I saw a lockpicking CD-ROM for like $500 perfectly legal to own in my state. It had everything from car locks to safes, it had all kinds of information on it.

I saw it on a website one day while searching for locking picking DVDs and it showed up. I forgot to bookmark the page and havent been able to find the CD-ROM yet.

A code cutting program etc is of no use to you and the stuff on ebay is mostly copied from sites like this one, the best thing you can do is to stick around here and read until you understand, watching it is totally differant to actually doing it, buy some picks and a lock and follow the various guides on here to get yourself picking.

aha I found it take a look at this:

http://www.aloa.org/Merchant2/merchant. ... gory_Code=

its $329.99 but its prolly got every lock in there you could ever want to know about. Its gotta be way better than then the crappy one I posted above, here is a better link of the CD-Rom posted above by the way:

http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-LPCD.html

It probably has more safe information than lock information though. Im not really interested in safes so it may be useless for automative locks and other things Im interested in. There may be something in there for me though.

Good luck buying that first disk  . If you want to spend that kind of money to learn about locks I recommend Locks Safes and Security by Marc Tobias. The CD-Rom version will run you around $200 and has more information than you can likely read for 4-8 hours per day for the next 8-12 months.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

hi :D

yeah I bought LSS awile back

I still haven't used the CD-ROM yet. Whats on the darn thing anyway?

Do you have to register it? I dont even know how to use the thing. I tried installing it but there was just a blank screen or something. I was like "cool a program with nothing on it...lol"

ebay "lockpicking books" are for suckers

Postby greyman » 25 Apr 2006 7:57

Don't buy the ebay scam books on lockpicking. Most of it is just a rehash of the MIT guide or other online resources that you can get for free, although I did see the Monk book on keys for 20 pounds a few weeks ago. Instead check out the Alt.locksmithing FAQ:

http://www.indra.com/archives/alt-locksmithing/

I had to laugh the other day when I saw a set of "lock picks" on ebay that were nothing more than a set of auger/hook tools for sewing or woodwork. You can get these for 1 pound by mail order. Someone even paid UK 4 pounds for them!

The problem with ebay is you can't warn buyers when you spot a scam or pyramid scheme.
